THE MAIN ACTIVITY AT THE I&T NARDONI INSTITUTE'S LABORATORY IS NON-destructive testing services

The NDT methods we normally use are: direct and indirect visual, X-ray and gamma ray, manual ultrasonic, computerised ultrasonic (TOFD, phased array), guided wave, eddy current and remote field, magnetic particle inspection, liquid penetrants, acoustic emission, stress.

Our company's worth rests on 50 years of experience carrying out NDT, using latest-generation tools in the following industries: chemical, petrochemical, nuclear, fossil, hydroelectric, civil engineering, aeronautic, automotive, steelwork, machinery, bridge building.

Using advanced computerised ultrasonic systems, we test the following products and materials: cast metal, forged metal, pipes, carbon steel welds, austenitic steel welds, composites, rolled and cast steel, aluminium, titanium etc.

In the field of computerised ultrasonic testing, our company uses techniques like TOFD and PHASED ARRAY to obtain data automatically or semi-automatically in accordance with ASME or ISO standards.

TOFD and PHASED ARRAY have been widely used since 1996 and 2004 respectively, on pressure vessels, heat exchangers, spheres, nozzles, tanks, forged products and plates in Italy and around the world (Canada, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Mexico, India, Singapore, Egypt, Brazil and other EU countries are just some of te places our staff have carried out non-destructive testing).

We have come up with specialist techniques for austenitic welds and ultrasonic tests on welds 9% Ni and 2.25 Cr Mo-V.

CERTIFICATION AND ACCREDITATIONS

The staff who carry out our non-destructive testing are qualified and certified Level II or III in various NDT methods under SNT TC 1A and/or ISO 9712.

We are certified under ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2018 for UT, PT, MT, TOFD, PHA, RT, AT and ET methods under the ASME and ISO standards.

Our laboratory takes part regularly in Italian and foreign conferences, presenting technical documents, equipment and services at its stands. We have given out more than 60 publications at conferences around the world.
